For various reasons it didn’t work out for me to join my husband on a sailing trip this week. This is rarely the case and I don’t mind as we do most of our traveling together. BUT this week is my birthday! and I admit I was feeling a little lonely and put out to have to celebrate it alone. ..So I made a mini plan and am on a road trip to Sedona for three days…. It has been years since I last visited and I found a wonderful spa resort L’Auberge de Sedona that had an open cottage on Oak Creek so here I go. I also booked a solo trek with a guide into the back country for a photography adventure! I am pretty excited now, but when 6am rolls around and I need to get up for said adventure on Monday I suspect some of my enthusiasm will disappear! In the meantime, before I got very far from my own house I spotted this old cemetery on a hill that I had never noticed. It is VERY unusual. There is no real road to get to it, you need to climb up a steep loosely packed dirt hill, yet there are many graves there – some appearing very old…it also seems part potters field actually, part old and forgotten cemetery and part newly used cemetery! I’m not sure what to make of it; I’ll let the pictures tell part of the story.

Welcome to spring, without a doubt my favorite time of year!! So I know this looks like and orchid but I am here to tell you this is a macro of a wisteria blossom. Who knew those little tiny blooms were actually miniature orchids! : ) Enjoy your Easter weekend everyone, a time of rebirth and hope.
Thank you so much to all of you who took the time to tweet and comment about the latest Focus 52 Photo challenge shot. I can thank Mother Nature for her awesome timing bringing rain when I needed it! : )
Several people inquired about purchasing this photo. For a limited edition print please click the link below the photo and enjoy!
Macro photography is my obsession. There is a whole new world available when you look closely enough. I love how the most ordinary becomes extraordinary and the hidden is made visible when seen larger than life. These photos were all taken around my home. Things I walk past every single day made me stop in awe when seen in a new light. Enjoy.
One of the wonderful (and dangerous) things about where I live is the sheer number of wineries in close proximity! Recently we drove to Temecula to try a few new places. It was a day with “weather” which we don’t have often enough…. I took full advantage.
One tip to share. If you are tasting, look in the local markets before you buy at the tasting room. You will often save yourself a fair bit of money.
Fot this weeks challenge I combined both love and red! : ) I love chocolate and a really beautiful dessert and this one just happened to be accented with a touch of red rose petal. Enjoy! Shot at Extraordinary Desserts in San Diego.
Well this flu has been slow going. I have not been this sick in a very long time… basically bedridden for three days. Great for computer work but UGH there has to be an easier way to get motivated! So as you may have seen I have been going crazy trying to create a logo of some sort without any experience with the adobe programs to create one such as Fireworks or Illustrator. I have learned an amazing amount in a short time and at long last I have something I really like! I introduce you to my new and only logo…
Yay ! One portion of my New Years goals completed! I have big ideas for this year and am really stoked. One of my projects is going to be the design of custom photographic gift wrap. Not the kind where you stick your face on there but a real photograph made large on high quality wrapping. I want to challenge myself and this seems like a fun, creative way to share art with friends and to make art – particularly photographic art – more accessible to the general public! I am just now sourcing things so I will keep you posted.
Here is a cheery picture for what I hope is my last day lying around for a while. Taken with my Raynox 150 on my NIKKOR 75-300mm. This is a beautiful tiny little flower we saw blooming on our trip a couple of months ago to Joshua Tree. Enjoy!
